Our patients are more than their medical labels. As with all of the Villa’s programs, the Behavioral Health Department values individual dignity, and embraces the concept of Neurodiversity. Neurodiversity recognizes that all human beings think and process the world differently, whether in ways we regard as “typical,” or in ways we regard as different. The neurological differences of those we serve are recognized and valued as any other human variation, regardless of medical labels.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most popular treatment for addiction?
Today, peer support and a continuum of care are valued as vital components of treatment, and the Villa is committed to this model. Once an individual comes to the Villa for services, they are typically provided with counseling and other behavioral therapies. Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) has also been shown to be highly effective.
Prevention education is also a Villa service, and is successful for addiction because it targets addiction before it begins. These prevention treatment programs are available for schools, communities, and agencies that require prevention presentations or who recognize the need for better discussion around substance use disorders.
How many drug rehabs are there in America?
In the United States alone, there are 14,500 drug treatment centers that provide counseling, medication assisted therapy, and case management services to individuals struggling with substance use.
How many times does the average person go to rehab?
It is common for individuals to return to rehab more than once, and often multiple times. Treatment is not as simple as taking a pill and letting the medication do the work for you. There is no such thing as an overnight success.
While some addictions require medicated treatment to assist the individual in their journey to recovery, this is just a single part of the whole treatment program.
How can I get off drugs?
Seek help – begin the work. The Villa is here for you. Start by contacting the Villa’s Living Hope Treatment Center 24/7: (585)295-6916 or LivingHopeAdmissions@villaofhope.org.
How do you know if someone has a drug problem? What does the influence of drugs look like?
It can be difficult to recognize if a loved one has a drug problem. Many people have difficulty coming to terms with their own substance use.
It is never a proud moment to admit that you or a loved one need help in combating substance use. The moment of pride comes when you decide to take action and seek help for the addiction. This seemingly small action speaks louder than words, taking a significant amount of courage to face the issue head on and seek solutions.
To discover if someone has a substance use disorder, you might notice that they become secretive about their actions. They might begin acting out of character or have unexplained bruises or slurred speech.
It is important not to approach the individual in confrontation, however, and instead create a space where they feel safe opening up and talking about the addiction.
The Villa is here for you. We believe in you.
